DERMAL FILLERS in London.

Dermal Fillers are the ideal treatment for instantly enhancing your looks in a natural way and are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in both men and women.

They can be used to add volume and improve wrinkles, folds, thin lips and scars. They are most commonly used on the face, particularly the lips and cheeks, but are also commonly used on the hands and decolletage. Smokers’s lines, nasolabial lines, smile lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles can all be treated using dermal fillers. They work from inside by adding volume and gently smoothing out lines, folds and wrinkles to restore the skin to its former youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers are also widely referred to as lip fillers, lip injections, cheek fillers or face fillers due to the popularity of injection locations. The most common places to have dermal fillers include the lips, cheeks and the nose to increase the appearance of volume, and around the jawline, chin, under the eyes and under the nose to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

HOW DO DERMAL FILLERS WORK?

Dermal filler treatment works by injecting hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally produced in the skin, into areas of the face which have depleted levels and may look as though they need filling or are experiencing the effects of ageing. These semi-permanent injections, administered by a very fine needle, give a natural plumped and youthful look by providing support and structure to the skin.

During the treatment, the consultant will use an anaesthetic cream to numb the area in preparation for the injections. The natural looking fillers, which contain Juvederm, an FDA approved and leading brand of dermal filler, might feel uncomfortable but shouldn’t be painful and the treated area may be slightly sore and swollen but this should settle down within a few days. The treatment session should take around 30 minuites and results often last up to 12 months, however for some people results can still be seen 18 months later. The treatment does not require recovery time so you can continue with your normal routine following your appointment. We will follow up post treatment to ensure you have had the desired outcomes and answer any further questions you may have.

Dermal fillers come in two main types. Hyaluronic Acid fillers and Non-Hyaluronic Acid fillers. The most popular dermal fillers, Restylane and Juvederm, are examples of Hyaluronic Acid fillers. Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance, which is found in the skin. These dermal fillers are non-animal, stabilised and biodegradable. In the skin, collagen and hyaluronic acid work together to provide youthful resilience, texture and shape. Non-Hyaluronic Acid fillers include Radiesse+ which consists of Calcium Hydroxyapatite molecules which stimulate collagen production.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are dermal fillers painful?

Most patients find the treatment very tolerable and virtually painless. Tiny needles are used to inject into the muscles, so only pin pricks may be felt. For those not so good with needles, local anaesthetic cream can be used beforehand, but this needs to be applied for at least 30 minutes for the numbing effect to occur. Following the treatment, there may be a little redness or bruising at the site of injections, which usually settles within 24-48 hours.

How long do dermal fillers last?

You will see the results of your dermal fillers straight after treatment, however it may take a couple of days for your skin to settle down and the results to be realised. Results will last up to 12 months depending on where you had the injections, with injections in the lips typically lasting about 6 months.
