CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels involve applying an acid-based formula to the skin to keep it soft, smooth, and supple. Chemical peels can be used on most areas of the body, but the most common use is to improve the appearance of the skin on the face or on the backs of the hands. A chemical solution is applied to the surface of the skin to carefully remove the outer layers. The amount of skin removed will depend on the type of chemical used, the strength of the product and how long it is left on the skin.

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers can be used to add volume and improve wrinkles, folds, thin lips and scars. They are most commonly used on the face, particularly the lips and cheeks, but are also commonly used on the hands and decolletage. Smokers’s lines, nasolabial lines, smile lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles can all be treated using dermal fillers. They work from inside by adding volume and gently smoothing out lines, folds and wrinkles to restore the skin to its former youthful appearance. The most common places to have dermal fillers include the lips, cheeks and the nose to increase the appearance of volume, and around the jawline, chin, under the eyes and under the nose to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

ANTI-AGEING INJECTIONS

Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments in the UK for both men and women. They are used as an anti-ageing treatments to reduce dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet, but can also be used to treat excessive sweating and migraines and tension headaches. These injections works to relax the muscles by preventing the nerve signals from reaching the muscles. There have been many clinical trials confirming the effectiveness and safety of anti-wrinkle injections however it should only be administered by a trained medical professional in a Care Quality Commission approved facility, such as the Harley Street Dermatology Clinic.

MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling is the use of tiny needles to penetrate through the skin to induce a wound healing reaction. This results in hundreds of microchannels created in the skin which increases the delivery of the specialist product and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. This increased production of natural fibres within the skin means the treatment works very well at treating scars such as post acne scarring, stretch marks as well as fine lines and wrinkles, and smoother, firmer, more toned skin.

FAT DISSOLVING INJECTIONS

Aqualyx is a fat dissolving injection which can be used on most areas of the body, with the most popular being the chin, upper arms, waist, hips, inner thighs and buttocks. It is a non-surgical way of body shaping using a gel based solution which is injected into areas of unwanted, difficult to shift pockets of fat. Fat dissolving injections are not intended for weight loss, but rather for those with localised fat tissue which is not responding to a healthy diet or increased physical exercise to improve the contour of the body by removing stubborn areas of fat.

MEDICAL FACIALS

Medical facials, often referred to as chemical peels involves the application of a chemical solution to the surface of the skin to produce the careful removal of its outer layers. When the skin regrows, it will not remember the blemishes that were there before. As the new skin develops, a new band of collagen in the dermis will grow along with a thicker epidermis meaning your skin will appear smoother than before the treatment. The amount of skin removed will depend on the type of chemical used, the strength of this product and how long it is left on the skin. Chemical peels are usually described according to how deep they work on the skin.
